All the buildings studied refer to a square as a fundamental module. Through this operation, it is possible to scape from the classroom as the historical minimal unit – material and rhetorical – of school construction (as building and institution). The square is both potential and restriction, allowing buildings – through abstraction – to liberate themselves from the classroom tyranny and to displace the school from its exclusive educational function to a myriad of programmatic possibilities and infrastructural use.
Does the persistence of the square appeal to the abstraction of the generic in programmatic terms or to the liberation of the school from the classroom?

Los edificios estudiados refieren a un cuadrado como módulo fundamental. A través de esa operación escapan del aula como unidad mínima, material y retórica, de construcción de la escuela en tanto edificio e institución. El cuadrado es a la vez potencial y restricción, lo que les permitiría a los edificios - a través de su abstracción - liberarse de la tiranía del aula y desplazar la escuela desde su función meramente educativa convencional a una miríada de posibilidades programáticas y de uso infraestructural.
¿Apela esta insistencia del cuadrado a la abstracción de lo genérico en términos programáticos? ¿o a la potencial liberación del edificio del aula?
